ya a roughneck is a tuff dangerous job and long hours you will be out on the rig for days and even weeks most rougjnecks live around the derrick in temperary housing find were there are digging and head over to the rig office if you never dont it they will call you green always pay attention to your surroundings people are killed or loose limbs fingers hands everyday ive been around oil rigs and work with a few former roughnecks and tell me storys and it doesnt sound like a job for me good luck to ya im in oklahomas and they dont do to mutch digging here anymore i herd nebraska is booming and off shore try e-mailing some of the oil companys or try doing a search like in yahoo and see what you come up with also try craigslist find the state were there are lots of oil drilling and check out there classifieds
go to conoco web site or bp and do a job search even try typing a request for info on the contact us page.
Okay worm of you want to start working in the oil field,Get use to everyone calling you worm first of all. Since you did have any working history on a rig, the best that is to drive up to one and tell the toolpusher or driller that your liking for work. Let them know how much you want to become a roughneckand that you’ll do anything to get started. My brother loved working in the oil fields and my cousin still work in them ,but he goes to France and over sea where they have the army from that country guarding over them. You just got to start stopping when you see a rig and ask them of they have any opening. go for it.
